The Church St. Marien

The protestant St. Marien church with its own choir is situated in close proximity to Gut Basthorst. The new-gothic field stone church was built in 1857 and 1858. A marble altar from 1658 with pillars and putti from the church preceding St. Marien was donated by the ruling family von Uffeln and now is an integral part of it. The ruling families of Basthorst always kept close ties to the church, often associated with extensive financial backing.
Enno Freiherr v. Ruffin holds the patronage of the St. Marien church, as did his father. The church is led by Pastor Kirsten Sattler.
Numerous weddings take place at the St. Marien church over the year. Anyone may book St. Marien to celebrate their wedding here.
